Public Transport Network Vulnerability and Delay Distribution among Travelers

Methodologies and approaches for assessing the vulnerability of a public transport network are generally based on quantifying average delay generated passengers by some type disruption. In this work, novel methodology is proposed, which combines traditional approach, quantitative evaluation averaged disruption effects, with analysis asymmetry effects among users, means Lorenz curves Gini index. This allows evaluating whether negative consequences disruptions equally spread or if differences exist. The results obtained show potential proposed method to provide better knowledge about network. Particularly, it emerged that disrupted scenarios appear similar in terms impacts actually very different users.
